Joy Beaney MA, has many years experience in both mainstream and special education. During her career, she has been an Assistant Head at a special school and manager of an Inclusion Support Service that provided training and outreach support for staff in mainstream schools. Joy lectures at Brighton University delivering their Post Graduate Certificate in autism. Joy is the author of books on autism. Joy set up ‘Autism Train’ to promotes and share best practice through providing training on aspects of autism.
Kay Al-Ghani is a Specialist Advisory Teacher, Autism Trainer and Inclusion Consultant with over 35 years experience in Education. Kay is a part time lecturer at Brighton University delivering their Post Graduate Certificate in autism. Kay has designed and presented a range of training to professionals, parents and students. Jackie Powell has been a Makaton tutor since 2007 and runs a variety of courses from a taster session to more in depth and advanced training. She has worked at a special needs school as part of an inclusion team specifically supporting parents of children with autism though a help line. Jackie runs a preschool group which encourages the use of Makaton with children with communication delay. She has personal experience of both communication difficulties and autism as her son at the age of four was diagnosed with ASDC
